Planning staff reported that the City Council selected BerryDunn as the consultant to lead the comprehensive plan update and said staff held a kickoff meeting; steering committee work is expected to begin in January. Staff described the effort as restarting a long-delayed update and said the consultant team was well qualified.
Jamie (planning staff) also noted several planning board terms are expiring, encouraged interested residents to apply to fill the open seats, and announced openings on other municipal boards (design review, zoning board of appeals). The board approved the 2026 planning board calendar (motion carried 6-0).
A board member asked about a rumored Harbor Freight Tools development; Jamie said Harbor Freight has an active building permit and staff has been in contact with the company, which has told staff it still plans to come but has not yet begun construction.
