Superintendent: building options moving forward; district reported more than 900 vaccinations

Superintendent Ray updated the board on multiple operational items, including progress on the district's building project, a recent run of vaccination clinics, and a staffing strategy.
On the building work, Ray said the program and site-selection committees are aligning options so the community can compare configurations and land requirements. "Oak Point will be working on really identifying what would be local and or state costs," he said, adding the district will present clear comparisons so residents understand trade-offs and future challenges.
Ray also highlighted recent vaccination outreach: staff and community partners ran five vaccination clinics across three communities and "we were able to do well over 900 vaccinations," he said. He thanked nurses, principals and partner organizations for the effort. Ray warned that the Maine Department of Education is expected to review return-to-school standard operating procedures after the holidays and could consider vaccination rates in county and community decisions.
Ray briefly previewed a staffing and retention strategy and noted an upcoming administrative update from Chris Endorff during new business. The board offered thanks and brief remarks of appreciation to staff who organized clinics.
The meeting included an announcement of the death of former school board member Art Tardiff, with funeral arrangements shared and a moment of silence observed by the board.
