RSU 73 board approves ACAB, advances multiple policy readings and awards plowing contract

On policy, the board conducted a second and final reading of policy ACAB. Tina moved to accept the ACAB second reading; the motion passed by a show of hands with no objections. The board then approved first readings (procedural advancement) of policies ACAA, ACAB (additional sections), BB and GBN after a short explanation that some language was being adapted to fit the district's smaller size.
On procurement, the board reviewed a single bid for plowing and sanding and approved awarding the contract to Gene Gustongi's Logging and Excavation. The superintendent indicated the lone bid represented about a $1,000 (roughly 1%) increase in year one, with $500 increases in years two and three. The board approved the award by show of hands after a motion moved by Michelle and seconded by Tina.
The meeting closed with routine co-curricular appointments, a reminder that school will be closed Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and a motion to adjourn.
