Saco School Board approves two hires and advances policy package; routine minutes approved

During the April 30 Saco School Board meeting members approved several routine personnel and policy actions and completed standard governance business.
School Board Member Roach moved to approve two nominations: Brock Major for SMS school nurse and Shaelyn Dreypulser for school psychologist, with contracts to cover the 2025–26 school year. The motion was seconded and passed by roll call (motion recorded as 4-0). "I move we approve the nomination of Brock Major, SMS School Nurse, and Shaelyn Dreypulser, School Psychologist, and issue a contract for the 2025-2026 school year," Roach said when presenting the personnel motion.
Earlier the board approved the minutes of its April 9, 2025 meeting (recorded as 4-0) and later moved a package of first readings for district policies. School Board Member Preble read a list of policy codes and moved their first reading, which passed by roll call 5-0. Items included nondiscrimination and equal opportunity (AC), harassment/discrimination-related policies (ACAA/ACAB series), visitor procedures (KI and administrative procedures), promotion and retention (KE), and the local assessment system (ILA). Preble said the reading encompassed these items and the board advanced them for subsequent consideration.
The meeting concluded after the board denied the need for an executive session, conducted a roll-call adjournment vote and adjourned at 05:26.
