Board approves hires, accepts resignation and clears first readings of several policies

Personnel: School board member Truman moved to approve nominations and issue contracts for a slate of hires for the 2025–26 school year, including Emily Boylard and Catherine Favreau (Fairfield School), Ryan Martin (Saco Middle School PE), Ariana Hadiaras (social worker at CK Burns), and Isabel Simbari (speech and language pathologist at Saco Middle School), as listed in the district’s stipend memo. The motion was seconded and passed by roll call 7-0.
Resignation: Truman also moved to accept the resignation of Molly Joyce, speech-language pathologist at Saco Middle School, effective at the end of the 2024–25 school year. The board approved the resignation 7-0.
Policies: Member Johnston moved the first reading of multiple policies — including JLCB (student immunization), KBF (Title I parent involvement) and KBF-E1 (Title I parent involvement procedures), community use of school facilities, and an agreement form for classroom observations. Board members discussed a labeling issue between "policy" and "procedures" for one item and agreed it could be corrected at the second reading. The first-reading motion passed by roll call 7-0.
Meeting minutes amendment: Earlier in the meeting the board amended the May 28 minutes to clarify that resignations discussed at that meeting were effective at the end of the 2024–25 school year rather than 2025–26; that amendment passed by roll call (5 yes, 2 abstain) and the main motion to approve the minutes passed 5 yes, 2 abstain.
