The RSU 73 School Board approved several administrative and capital actions at its meeting, including lease financing for gymnasium bleachers, purchase of a replacement van, multiple personnel appointments and adoption of the district’s student handbooks for 2025–26.
The board adopted a resolution to authorize lease purchase of new gymnasium bleachers in the principal amount of $154,000 after the superintendent explained the bank required a formal resolution because the amount exceeded $100,000. "We have the resolution that we can read...because it's over a $100,000, the bank says we need to have a resolution vote instead of just a regular vote," the superintendent (speaker 8) said. Committee member (speaker 2) moved the resolution; it passed by voice vote.
The transportation subcommittee recommended purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse 7-passenger van to serve special-education transport needs; the board approved the $45,506 purchase as a budgeted item. The superintendent noted the subcommittee had vetted the vehicle and that the purchase had been included in the budget.
On personnel the board unanimously approved appointments for high school math teacher Eric Taylor; 6–8 grade math teacher Lori Slovak; Alternative Education teacher Alex Wilbur; and second-grade teacher Joshua Wilcox.
Administrators summarized revisions to the 2025–26 student handbooks, including clarified pickup/dropoff instructions, tightened summer-school academic eligibility, Chromebook-use consequences, dress-code guidance and social-function eligibility changes. After requested edits (notably a clarifying map and phrasing requested by board member Tina), the board approved the handbooks by voice vote.
