Board schedules special meeting to finalize indigenous education goals ahead of March 1 grant deadline

Being in compliance with Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) requirements affects the district’s eligibility for Indian education program funds, the director said.
Because the MDE grant application deadline is March 1, the board set a special meeting for the limited purpose of reviewing and approving the advisory group’s updated goals so the district can proceed with the application process. The director said the advisory group will pare the goals down and submit the revised goals to the district ahead of the special meeting.
No vote on long-term policy changes occurred; the board’s action was scheduling a targeted meeting to confirm compliance and protect funding eligibility.
