Board approves hires, van trip and election canvass; finance report shows strong cash position

During the consent agenda the board approved hiring Craig Archambault as a paraprofessional, Tina Jessam as a high-school paraprofessional and Andrea Banton as a part-time custodian; the motion was recorded as made by Nollie and seconded by Brenda and passed by roll call.
The board then considered and approved a proposed 2025 van trip for the band to New York (40 students, 6 chaperones). "Looks like a great trip that will leave kids very tired," a school staff member said; the board approved the trip with recorded ayes from Molly, Brenda, John and the chair.
On finances, the business office reported the district opened an investment account with $5,800,000 and drew just over $1,000,000 in October to meet obligations; the investment account was reported to end the month at $5,300,000. The district reported total deposits of $2,500,000 into checking (including levy receipts) and total accounts payable for October of about $744,000. Payroll for the month was reported at slightly more than $403,000. The presenter summarized: "That is why you see a significant cash balance in our checking account. That is gonna cover the majority of our November."
The board also read and approved a resolution canvassing returns of the Nov. 5 school district general election (the transcript recorded 8,409 voters in the district's abstract) and approved a resolution directing the clerk to issue certificates of election after contest and campaign-reporting periods end. The clerk was directed to certify results to county auditors as required.
All formal votes recorded in the meeting passed by roll call as read on the record. The board confirmed the next regular meetings (Dec. 16 and a Jan. 6 reorganization) and adjourned.
