Pelican Rapids Public Schools’ board and administrators used part of their meeting to recognize staff, volunteers and students, and to hear a presentation about a recent band trip to New York City.
At the start of the meeting the chair and staff presented certificates of appreciation to special education transportation staff, bus company drivers, advisors, spring coaches, teachers and support staff, and thanked outgoing student school board representative Eduardo Sanchez "for two years of service" and participation in multiple activities.
The board then heard a presentation from the band's presenter, who described the group’s visit to Times Square and a range of activities including Broadway shows, workshops and a concert slideshow. The presenter praised students’ maturity and conduct, thanked chaperones (including a staff member identified as "Miss Jay") and volunteers for fundraising and logistical work, and described the trip as a highlight of the school year. "These kids were amazing," the presenter said, commending students for representing the school and community.
Administrators also noted recent school events — concerts, scholarship night and senior activities — and announced that 63 seniors are scheduled to graduate at 7 p.m. on Friday in Leaders Gymnasium. The meeting included thanks to specific staff members and volunteers whose names were read during reports.
What’s next: The board's recognitions were ceremonial and informational; no formal actions were attached to the presentations.
