Community education director outlines digital catalog, reports 1,507 participants in 2024–25

Wanchard summarized highlights: summer recreation served 197 children in 285 activity entries; enrichment programs enrolled 172 participants including camps and theater; adult basic education served about 59 students with a new Monday-through‑Friday schedule and a new instructor; and Viking preschool (ages 3–5) and ECFE programs had routine attendance. She noted specific program counts—VPK at 45 for a five‑day option in 2024–25 and three‑year‑old classes at 26 (two days)—and said the presenter and staff will continue to refine those figures as the digital catalog is completed.
The community education team plans a digital catalog to centralize registration, listings and QR codes linking to school‑pay registration and district pages. Wanchard encouraged community organizations to contact her if they want to add events or programs; she said contact information will appear in the catalog front matter. The presenter also described continuing offerings such as open gym, open skating, pickleball nights, a CDL class, monthly painting classes, and a revived homework help program at the high school.
Board members praised the outreach and asked about how community groups could submit items for the catalog; Wanchard said she would add submission instructions and coordinate with the chamber to broaden reach.
