Hollis board flags septic capacity, civil-engineering RFP and names rep to capital advisory committee

The board received several facilities and capital-project updates on Aug. 13, including a pending civil-engineering firm selection and an initial assessment of septic capacity at two elementary sites.

Committee member (speaker 3) told the board that an RFP for civil engineering closed in mid-July and interviews were completed; the executive subcommittee will discuss recommendations during the meetings nonpublic session. "We will be discussing the recommendations of the executive subcommittee this evening during nonpublic," the speaker said.

Facilities data presented to the board showed Hughes septic capacity at about an 8,008-gallon tank (reported capacity roughly 500 students and staff) and Hollis Primary Schools septic at 6,000 gallons, a smaller capacity that may be insufficient for projected needs. The board discussed directing some of the funds being saved from under-budget capital requests toward an analysis and assessment of the HPS septic system and potential design work.

Separately, the chair raised FY27 board goals and proposed appointing Raffy (a budget-committee liaison) as the district representative to the town-created Capital Expenditure Advisory Committee. The chair emphasized that the advisory committee has no authority over participating entities but provides an information-sharing forum: "It has absolutely zero authority toward any one of the participating organizations to say no our things more important than yours," the chair said.

No final contract award was announced; the subcommittees recommendation and any vote will follow nonpublic consideration and later public notice when appropriate.
