Hollis school special-education LEA manual updated; board briefed on proposed non-mandatory policy

District special-education leadership presented the 2025 LEA plan (the local special-education policy and procedures manual) and described a series of updates and formatting changes intended to improve clarity and local applicability.
Speaker 5, the district director who led the presentation, said the manual is reviewed annually and that this years version constitutes a substantive reformat and a number of targeted updates vetted by legal counsel. "We went back to our eligibility forms, which we do review every few years. We wanted to make sure that those were updated," the director said, and credited assistant director Christine Hite for handling detailed cross-referencing and drafting work.
The presenter told the board that a policy tied to the manuals amendment process is not mandatory but will be brought forward so the board has awareness of how amendments are made. Staff said district-specific program descriptions, forms and hyperlinks to documents are included in the packet and that printed copies are available at the SAU office and on the district website.
Board members thanked staff for the professional presentation and asked that members review the document in detail before upcoming votes or formal action. No formal action was taken at the Aug. 13 meeting; staff invited board members to submit questions after review and said they will follow up as needed.
