The Pawnee City Board of Education voted to authorize administration to make necessary transfers to close out the fiscal‑year 2025 budget and scheduled two public hearings for September.
By motion and unanimous vote the board authorized district staff to complete required fiscal‑year transfers needed for year‑end accounting. The board then approved moving the budget hearing to 6 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2025 after administrators reported a missed deadline for assessor information required for public notice. The board also scheduled the final tax request hearing for 6 p.m. on Sept. 8 as part of the regular September meeting.
On a separate housekeeping item the board approved transferring $2 from the student fee fund into the general fund at the suggestion of Nebraska Department of Education Finance, describing the action as a cleanup to avoid carrying a trivial balance.
All motions passed by recorded voice votes with one member noted absent on several items. The board did not alter tax‑rate proposals at the meeting; the hearings are public opportunities for further comment before any final adoption.
