The Kimball Public Schools Board approved a JEO Consulting quote to serve as project manager for renovation of three science laboratory rooms.
Superintendent Trevor Anderson explained the work would replace dated countertops and cabinetry, repair plumbing and gas lines, add islands and install a fume hood and upgraded teaching towers in each of the three rooms. Anderson said the district needs the renovations for safety and instructional effectiveness and recommended JEO Consulting to manage subcontractors and schedules; he noted a target construction start for June 1 with a goal of completing the work before the next school year.
Board members discussed the contractor's reputation and potential timeline risks. The board voted to approve the quoted amount (the motion recorded at roughly $34,700) and recorded the motion carried 6-0. The superintendent said staff will follow up on contract language about deadlines and ramifications if work is not completed on time.
The board directed that project oversight and final design choices (color, cabinetry, countertops) will be coordinated between JEO and the school staff.
