Kimball board elects Travis Cook president, keeps current officer slate and confirms committees

The Kimball Public Schools Board of Education reorganized its leadership at its January meeting, electing Travis Cook as board president for 2026 and approving the existing slate of officers.
Trevor Anderson, who opened nominations, called for candidates for president; after nominations closed the board voted to elect Travis Cook. The board then approved by unanimous consent the existing officers: Landon Smith as secretary, Jen Bridal as vice president and Brittany Toth as treasurer.
The board also approved its committee assignments for the year, keeping American Civics, Buildings and Grounds, Transportation, Finance, Negotiation and Scholarships on the docket and making a few membership adjustments. Chair said the committee structure will guide work assignments and the board approved the appointments by voice vote.
As part of routine annual business the board named its media affiliates (Western Nebraska Observer, Scottsbluff Star-Herald, KNEB Radio, KSID and KIMB Radio) and added Banner Capital Bank to the list of financial affiliates; the board also authorized signatures for the newly elected officers, the superintendent and the business manager. Both motions carried unanimously.
The reorganization and affiliate approvals were procedural items the board said are required for public notice, banking and contracting functions. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Feb. 9.
