The OAKES 41 School Board voted to accept its Choice Ready progress report after an overview of goals and performance-monitoring plans.
The district presenter told the board that the district’s Choice Ready goal is to raise the percentage of students meeting "choice ready" measures from 76% in spring 2023 to 95% by spring 2028. The presenter said one new performance measure (GPM 3.3) looks "pretty aggressive" and may be adjusted so the district does not set itself up to fail. (Attribution: Presenter)
The presenter also reported assessment results: "For this year, 41 out of 44 seniors scored a 31 or plus" on the ASVAB, and additional retakes produced higher scores for some seniors, the presenter said. The board and staff discussed how algebra II and other course choices affect ASVAB outcomes and noted that Wentworth will create a shared tracking sheet for grades 9–12 to monitor progress toward GPMs.
After discussion, the board moved, seconded and accepted the Choice Ready progress report (motion passed by voice vote). Administrators said they will revisit GPM 3.3, continue tracking students and work to refine a required graduation capstone so it is practicable for seniors in coming years.
