The Belcourt School District No. 7 board completed a series of routine governance and personnel actions during the meeting, including an oath of office, leadership nominations, committee appointments and personnel approvals.
An oath of office was administered for Bruce Moore (Speaker 8), who recited support for the U.S. Constitution and a pledge to perform the duties of a school board member to the best of his ability.
The board opened annual nominations for board president and vice president, received nominations (the transcript records a nomination for 'Alan Meliter' for president and a nomination of Wanda for vice president), and recorded motions to close nominations. The board also acted on several committee and representative appointments, including policy and budget committee rosters.
In personnel business, the board accepted the resignation of Jade Melaterre as culinary-arts teacher, effective July 15, 2025, and moved to approve the hiring of Paula Bellegarde for a FACS/culinary-arts teacher position, pending a favorable background check. Roll-call votes on the personnel items were recorded in the transcript and were taken as recorded by the clerk.
Administrators sought and received authorization to designate district representatives for federal and state grant programs, including Title I–VI, CARES/ESSER and USDA summer lunch programs. The board closed the meeting after a motion to adjourn.
What happened next: motions were recorded and staff were directed to coordinate with the budget committee on consultant agreements and to return with options to the board; no further substantive policy changes were adopted during this session.
