DICKINSON 1 construction about 55% complete, district presenter says

A district presenter told the board that the DICKINSON 1 school project is about 55% complete and highlighted recent construction milestones, including finished joist decking and catwalks in the auditorium and continuing drywall work on upper floors.

The presenter said, "On the right there, we're looking at 55%," and described visible progress in the auditorium and commons: "the joist decking, and catwalk are completed" and roof work is in place so "you can see where the chairs are gonna go." He said crews will begin concrete work in the auditorium within the next few weeks and that stairs for Area C are expected to start arriving next week.

The presenter described procurement steps for building systems: "All the electrical items for this were procured right away," adding that purchases began "right when we sold the bond and got started," because such components have long lead times. Photographs shown to the board included commons decking, the auditorium catwalks, a crane over the music area and third-floor sheetrocked classrooms.

Work described for interior spaces included completed sheetrock on the third floor, visible classroom shells, library wall backing and kitchen progress. The presenter pointed to bathroom framing and tile backing on the third floor as additional signs of interior build-out.

The update did not include an updated completion date or a revised budget. The board did not record a vote or formal action on the construction report during the segments provided.

Next steps the presenter identified were continued drywall finishing on the second and third floors, concrete work in the auditorium in the coming weeks, and installation of stairs for Area C.
