Board approves budget calendar, extracurricular trip, wrestling merger, tax adjustment and property disposals

At its Nov. 12 meeting, the Caledonia-Mumford Central School District Board of Education approved multiple routine and consent items recommended by the superintendent, including the 2025–26 budget calendar and several operational requests.

The Board adopted the 2025–26 budget calendar after a motion and voice vote. Trustees also approved a girls' basketball overnight trip scheduled Nov. 29–30, 2024, under board field-trip policy and approved a merger of the modified wrestling team with a neighboring school for the 2024–25 season to ensure adequate roster size for competition.

The Board approved an adjustment to a tax bill after a challenged assessment by the town of Wheatland (parcel 208161551); administrators explained that the assessed value was reduced because the house in question had not reached full completion. Trustees also authorized awarding bids for miscellaneous items through Auctions International and decided to retain two items (a snowplow and an air compressor) from the auction list.

Following that business, the Board entered executive session at 6:44 p.m. to discuss the employment and employee history of particular persons; the Board returned to public session at 7:47 p.m. and approved personnel recommendations 1–10.

The motions were carried by voice vote where recorded; individual roll-call tallies were not read aloud in the public transcript. The meeting adjourned at 7:48 p.m.

Ending: No controversial votes were recorded on the public record; items were disposed of by voice vote and staff will proceed with implementation steps and any required administrative follow-up.
