The Brunswick Central School District Board of Education certified two budgets and approved multiple consent agenda items at its June 1 meeting.
The board voted to certify the district’s two budgets after a process the superintendent described as “outstanding,” noting the district saw more than 1,100 people participate in the budget vote and second ballot. "We had over 1,100 people that voted and were engaged," the superintendent said, calling the turnout "absolutely tremendous." The board carried motions to approve minutes and a slate of consent agenda items, including personnel and curriculum-related items.
During routine business the board placed and passed items 8.1–8.3 and 9.1–9.12 on the table. The superintendent publicly thanked Carl Siles, the district’s earth-science teacher, who is leaving for a position closer to home and was credited with reinvigorating the earth-science program.
Board members noted this year’s certification includes two budgets — an unusual administrative step discussed during the 10.1–10.14 portion of the agenda — and approved the related motions.
The meeting concluded the public portion with a motion to enter executive session for personnel matters, which the board approved.
