District reports new buses, Rowan Elementary fence work and AV upgrades

Transportation reported the district took possession of two buses purchased under last year's budget and expects additional buses ordered this year by the end of the calendar year. Staff said routing improvements implemented at the start of the school year have been well received by parents and students.
Facilities reported installation of a safety fence at Rowan Elementary began the day of the meeting and is expected to be completed within the week. Audio Visual Corporation completed phase 1 of projection and sound upgrades funded through the smart schools program; phase 2 (installation of a projector and sound system in the gymnasium) is being scheduled. Annual preventive maintenance for commercial boilers and heating units at district facilities is scheduled in the coming weeks.
Board members did not debate the projects at length; staff said they would schedule outstanding work and coordinate with administrators for next steps.
