Assistant Principal Courtney Fuller and other middle‑school staff said they used team-building, building tours and explicit instruction about expectations to orient students and focus on safety and supervision. Fuller outlined three measurable goals tied to the school’s strategic plan: reduce discipline referrals by 3%, reduce chronic absenteeism from 17% to 14% by 2025, and implement interventions for fourth and sixth grades with a near-term aim that 75% of students receiving interventions will meet their goals.
Presenters also described a pilot to modify academic-intervention systems (AIS) gradually, beginning with fourth and sixth grades, and said they will monitor progress through the school year. Staff highlighted parent communication via a new district newsletter platform that provides analytics on readership and attachment opens.
What’s next: The middle-school team will continue to report progress on these metrics to the board and said interventions will be phased in to limit disruption.
