Principals report gains in reading and math, update school events and facilities

School leaders gave progress reports during the Nov. 19 meeting, sharing assessment gains, attendance rates and a calendar of upcoming events across elementary, intermediate, middle and high schools.

Miss Love (elementary school) reported reading at 60% on or above level (up from 48% earlier in the year), math at 50% on/above and overall improvements month over month. She told the board the school’s PBIS program continues and attendance was at 93.4 percent. Miss Love highlighted a STEM club greenhouse project, a book fair, a Thanksgiving community lunch and other family events.

Miss Corona (intermediate school) described a new house system and shared outcomes from a recent pep rally and house activities. She noted ongoing reading interventions, plans for after‑school math and reading tutoring, and an air‑duct cleaning project that has temporarily displaced some classrooms during work. District staff also reported multi‑year HVAC projects and roofing work in progress.

District and middle‑school staff reported student leadership, Knowledge Bowl competition plans (Nov. 20), robotics season kickoff, FFA and CTE participation, and student success at competitions. Staff said some programs are preparing for state and national competitions and described fundraising and community partnership efforts that support student activities.

What happens next: principals will continue interventions and tutoring, proceed with facility work and coordinate volunteers for upcoming events; the board recognized staff and students for recent achievements.
