Board approves consent and personnel items including service agreements and bus purchase

The superintendent outlined several 2025–26 service agreements and program approvals: an audiology and hearing impairment services agreement and a visual-impairment services agreement with the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio; a memorandum of understanding with the Brooklyn Education Association to add girls varsity flag football as an OHSAA-sponsored sport; authorization to purchase a school bus using Ohio Schools Council bids (moved earlier than usual after a fleet bus failed); an interagency agreement with State Support Team 3 for 2025–26; program-of-studies approvals for Brooklyn High School and Brooklyn School for 2026–27; and a January 2026 revision to the district’s student wellness and success fund planning (no funding impact reported).
A motion to approve the consent agenda was moved and seconded and the clerk conducted a roll-call vote; the board recorded affirmative votes to adopt the items as presented. Later, the superintendent presented personnel items including approval of a long-term Title I tutor, retirements for Mr. Zofka and Mrs. Manley (with a commendation for the retiring staff), approval of classified staffing hours, resignations, supplemental assignments for extracurricular clubs, and on-call substitutes. Board members discussed adding Mr. Zofka to the commendation item before approving the personnel consent agenda by roll call.
Why it matters: The consent approvals cover special-education service contracts, athletics, transportation and curriculum for the coming school year, and the bus purchase responds to a current fleet failure. Personnel approvals affect classroom and support staffing.
