Valley Stream 24 board grants tenure to seven educators and approves personnel slate

The Valley Stream 24 Union Free School District Board of Education voted June 5 to grant tenure to seven educators and approved multiple personnel consent items.

Trustee Wilson moved the personnel slate and individually moved tenure resolutions for Katerina Sloboda, Arianna (Arianna) Arnone, Ashley Goldman, Elizabeth Moriarty Supple, Nicole Barsi and Tracy Ritterband; each motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The motions cited compliance with Education Law section 3012 and Part 30 of the Board of Regents’ rules. The board approved personnel consent items 1–6 earlier in the evening by voice vote as well.

Principal Iacono, speaking during the recognition portion of the meeting, praised one of the tenure recipients, saying, “She has demonstrated remarkable ability to utilize data to inform instruction,” in reference to Ariana Arnone’s classroom work. Building principals also outlined each honoree’s contributions, including leadership of robotics and learning‑lab programs, work on equity teams, and coordination of extracurricular activities.

The board’s action followed the personnel committee’s recommendation. Trustees recorded the approvals by voice vote; the meeting transcript records the motions being seconded and carried with an “Aye” response and no roll‑call tally listed in the public minutes.

Next procedural steps include placement of tenure resolutions in the district’s personnel records and public notification consistent with district practice.
