The superintendent described a pilot in which sixth-grade challenge students are designing and building a prosthetic arm to donate to Northwell Health’s occupational and physical therapy staff, and said students worked with physical therapist Taylor Jensen and occupational therapist Rob Carafo on product design and usability.
Dr. Korokhet also announced the district received a $500,000 grant from Assemblywoman Solages. He said the district has installed six water bottle filtration systems and expects a new sensory playground at Robert Carbonaro School to be installed in May; the transcript indicates the grant-funded installations are underway but does not provide vendor or contract details.
