The commenter said substitute teachers brought both boys involved in the incident to the office, but neither the principal nor another administrator were available. "The terroristic threat codes and threat assessment codes aren't known or followed by either," the speaker said, and added that the incident was not reported to the district's threat-assessment team as the handbook describes. The parent said they repeatedly asked school staff about the procedures and were told only about potential discipline options, not the district's escalation steps.
The speaker told the board they had spoken later with the district superintendent, who "was able to cite the code and tell me exactly where to find the information on the website," but said that earlier building-level staff were not aware of the procedures. The commenter urged the board to address what they called a personnel and accountability issue in the Logan office.
Board members did not announce a formal investigation or vote on the remark during the meeting. The comment was made during the public-comment portion of the meeting after the board voted to open citizens' remarks.
