Staff outlines three options for concession-stand openings; heating and finish work remain

Staff member (S1) told board members the school’s concession stand needs new openings and presented three options: retain original metal roll-up doors (which he said have an "R-value of 0"), install wide sliding windows with long tracks, or install three stationary windows with a 2-foot service sash that opens for transactions. "The R value is 0," S1 said while describing heat loss through the roll-up doors.

S1 said the concession construction is roughly three-quarters complete, with kitchen cupboards, a sink, and a bathroom still to finish. He said roof work is complete except for fascia and gutters that have been delayed by cold weather. On the building’s heating system, S1 described a winterization process that requires draining and blowing out lines; he said restarting the furnace in March can be difficult because outside temperatures remain low.

Committee members asked practical questions about interior layout and window size after S1 noted a planned internal middle wall had not been installed as pictured in circulated photos. Committee member (S2) and others clarified that the existing window is small and discussed whether to replace a counter and open the wall for a larger service opening. S1 said he preferred the fixed-window option with a 2-foot service opening because it would let staff push food through without the long sliding tracks that could obstruct service.

The board briefly discussed structural concerns for the press box area; S1 reported no current integrity issues identified by maintenance. S1 said a forthcoming pricing spreadsheet for the preferred window types and a "thermostat window" option will be circulated to show cost differences.

The discussion produced no formal motion or vote. Board members requested cost estimates and additional photos before deciding whether to proceed with a particular window type or to pursue other finishing items for the concession stand.
