Conestoga Valley board approves bond resolution, superintendent's report; change orders set for consent agenda

The Conestoga Valley Board of School Directors voted unanimously to approve the superintendent's report and a previously reviewed bond resolution at its June 9 work session.

The clerk conducted roll calls for both actions. For the superintendent's report the clerk recorded affirmative votes from Mrs. Fisher, Mr. Hearst, Mr. Talley, Mrs. Koepka, Mr. Gentzill, Mr. Eby and Mrs. Graf. The chair then introduced the bond resolution; after a motion and a second the board again approved the resolution by roll call.

During the meeting, Mr. Peters presented three construction change orders that will be placed on next week's consent agenda rather than voted on at the work session. He described GC03 at Leola, work to address voids discovered under the lower‑level fifth‑grade slab that required carted stone, tamping and staged inspection as steel was installed; GC04, a flooring underlayment/float to level surfaces across Leola prior to quartz tile installation; and a Smoketown closeout change that deducts about $32,000 of unused mechanical allowances, leaving Smoketown with about a 1.25% total change order to date.

The superintendent's report reviewed at the meeting also included the recommendation to create the director of curriculum and instruction position. The chair confirmed that the superintendent's report (including that position) was approved as part of the roll‑call action.

Next steps: the change orders will appear on the consent agenda at the board's next meeting for formal approval.
