District says finances stable despite state budget delay; Loyola chosen for national early‑reading pilot

"I think we're in a really strong position financially as a district," Doctor Hartman said, adding that the district can “weather” the timing gap until state funding is finalized. He said the superintendent's office had shared information with the board by email and would continue to monitor state actions affecting reimbursements.
Doctor Hartman also announced that Loyola Elementary was selected as one of 10 schools in the country to participate in an AIM Institute pilot focused on early reading. He said teachers and staff at Loyola will receive coaching, professional development and instructional resources targeted at kindergarten and first grade and that the district will bring further details to a future board meeting.
The superintendent introduced multiple recently hired or approved staff who were present, including Emma Schafer (life‑skills teacher at Fritz), Daniel Adams (network support specialist), Wesley Maloney (long‑term science substitute), Madison Algier (long‑term art substitute), Jessica Molinaro (school psychologist), Celeste Nazario (first‑grade teacher at Loyola), Diana Catrona (attendance administrative assistant) and Frank Hawkins (athletic director). Doctor Hartman noted Hawkins's experience as a 10‑year athletic director and his prior service at West York and Donegal.
The superintendent closed by reminding the board of upcoming calendar dates (teacher in‑service on Aug. 18–19; students return Aug. 20) and invited the board to raise questions about policy items scheduled for first reading at the next meeting.
Next steps: staff said the Loyola pilot will be placed on a future agenda for more detail and the superintendent's office will follow up on policy questions raised during the meeting.
