Janae Lapp, a high-school journalism teacher, described a Valley Voice conference overnight trip to New York: students are responsible for one hotel night and food/subway costs while other costs are covered; students with financial need could request assistance through existing grant or department funds.
Staff also reviewed proposed minor calendar revisions for 2026–27 (moving elementary conferences back to November and changing snow-makeup scheduling) and presented a near-identical first look at 2027–28. Administrators said the district will continue approving calendars a year in advance to help families plan.
