After discussion of market drivers (hurricane season, potential LNG exports, local storage dynamics) the board voted to authorize administration to secure at least a one‑month extension of supply for gas and to solicit quotes and lock in a two‑ to three‑year electricity contract beginning December 2025 when acceptable terms are identified. The motion to delegate authority to administration passed by voice vote.
Administrators said they will use advisors to identify the lowest acceptable rates and will act within the parameters set by the board to avoid operational interruptions (for instance, ensuring heating systems remain operational). The board directed staff to report back on any contracts signed and their budgetary impact.
