Board approves hires, purchases and policy audit; OKs baseball co‑op with Clarion area

The Clarion-Limestone Area SD board approved a slate of personnel, procurement and policy items at its September meeting, including a shared-services agreement with the Clarion area for baseball, a safety upgrade for career-technical shops, and a district policy audit.
By voice vote the board approved routine items including previous meeting minutes, treasurer and contingency fund reports, the July–August food-service operating statement, bill schedules for the general, capital, cafeteria, activity and scholarship funds, and multiple personnel actions (hires, substitutes, supplemental contracts, and one FMLA leave). The board accepted the resignation of office clerk Jerry Reed (effective Sept. 19).
Administrators reported the high-school generator project remains on track for end-of-month delivery despite a minor supply-chain delay. Business manager said the district extended a gas contract two months with UGI Energy Services at about 2.35 per dekatherm and plans to lock a longer-term rate for the fiscal year.
The board approved a shared-service agreement with Clarion area to host varsity, JV and junior-high baseball at the district's facility beginning in the 26–27 school year. Superintendent and administrators described the co‑op as a way to expand JV opportunities and give junior-high players more playing time.
The board also approved the purchase of three particulate filters for CTE shops at a maximum cost of $8,500 to be paid from the capital reserve; administrators discussed shipping, replacement intervals and recurring filter costs. Separately, the board approved contracting the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) to perform a comprehensive policy audit at a total cost of $7,200 paid over three years (the 25–26 allocation of $2,400 will come from the district contingency fund).
Student council representatives presented a list of student activities and fundraisers (suicide-awareness events, a PJ donation drive for childhood cancer, supply collections for Tri‑County Animal Rescue and upcoming fundraisers for county cancer and wounded-warrior causes). The board thanked the students and faculty for outreach and community engagement.
All items on the agenda were approved by voice vote unless otherwise noted. The board held discussion on several items (notably the particulate-filter purchase and the PSBA audit) before taking final action.
