During the meeting, staff went through informational items the board will consider at future meetings, including the Department of Education's Act 1 base index and a district budget timeline.
Staff said PDE issued the Act 1 base index at 3.5% and noted some neighboring districts qualify for exceptions that permit higher increases. The presenter said a detailed district plan will be shared in November for the board to adopt, and that staff aims to present a three-year budget strategy for board authorization by December.
Staff also flagged two administrative pieces that will be placed on the full board agenda: board member Lori Denny's possible attendance at the Pasco food-service conference (cost described as low, in the hundreds of dollars) and an agreement with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit to issue homestead-exclusion notices. Staff estimated the IU processing fee would be a little over $4,000 based on 3,716 parcels.
These items were informational; board members asked for a tailored timeline and further explanation of option differences among surrounding districts. No votes were taken at the meeting.
