On Feb. 3, 2026, the State Designer Selection Board voted to shortlist three firms for interview for the University of Minnesota Project 2601, the St. Paul Student Center. Heather (staff member) conducted a roll call and announced that Firms C, D and F each received seven votes while Firms A, B and E received none.
The board reviewed six proposals for the student center and proceeded to a roll-call vote by letter designation. Heather read the tally aloud: "so firm a received 0 votes, firm b received 0 votes, firm c received 7 votes, D received 7 votes, Firm E 0 votes, Firm F 7 votes," and the chair confirmed that "firms C, D and F were selected to be interviewed." The board used the letter naming convention and the military alphabet to avoid confusion during the roll call.
Paul (meeting participant) thanked members for their time reviewing the submissions before the vote. The chair thanked the group for its work and noted the board will arrange interviews with the three shortlisted firms at a later date. No motions to reconsider the selection were recorded and no amendments were proposed during the vote.
The board adjourned after completing the shortlisting and other business.
