District reviews maintenance contracts, UPS refreshes and safety upgrades at Academy Park High School

Mr. Taylor also presented CoStarz proposals to refresh uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) at Academy Park High School for $13,880 and at the administration building for $2,749, both to be paid from the general fund. He explained that the UPS units protect equipment from power surges and brownouts and reduce the need to move equipment between closets during outages.
On safety and security, Mr. Rostov reported that on Oct. 13 the district completed an antenna extension at Academy Park High School to preserve radio communications, and that a card-reader access control unit was installed at the main front door with programming scheduled for Oct. 18. Rostov said the district provided crisis-response training on Oct. 13 for bus-depot and food-services staff and delivered behavioral-management and threat-assessment training to administrators, counselors and psychologists.
Board members asked about the auditorium work; Mr. Taylor said scaffolding is being set up on both sides of the stage and staff are working to replace stage lights, although a full replacement is not yet possible and some interim bulb replacements are being used.
