Board members debated how broad the 72-hour reporting requirement should be. One committee member pressed to make the rule a clear catch-all (“Any arrest or conviction”), while others favored an enumerated approach that limits mandatory reporting to arrests/convictions similar to those listed in the AR. Chair urged clarifying the AR language and said the superintendent’s designee would disseminate the disciplinary rules and attachments so administrators have step-by-step guidance.
The discussion also touched on several PSBA-recommended items the district lacks in policy form, including a recommended policy on educational opportunities for military children and updated language for federal grant fiscal compliance and travel reimbursement. No formal vote was taken; board members directed staff to refine the 317 language and return with the AR and related attachments for the full-board packet.
The session recessed for a short break after policy items before moving to facilities work.
