Policy committee advances field-trip revisions and drafts exemption and social-media rules

Ridley said the committee agreed that parents must share responsibility for exemption requests and that district-approved social-media accounts should not allow public comments; the social-media language reflects suggestions from PSBA. "Areas of agreement included parents should have a level of responsibility for exemption from instruction, and comments should not be allowed on district approved social media sites," he said.
The committee reached consensus to move the field-trip second reading and the two first readings forward to the board for further consideration. There was no fiscal impact reported for these items; Ridley said changes will have policy impact and cited policy numbers in the committee packet.
