Salisbury Township School District staff recommended awarding the middle-school fire-alarm monitoring system contract to Albirell Electric after four electrical contractors submitted bids on Jan. 24.
At the operations portion of the Feb. 5 meeting CHA and facilities staff said Albirell’s low bid of $197,464 was well below the original budget and lower than other bidders. Staff asked the committee to authorize CHA to notify Albirell so the company can begin ordering long-lead items ahead of the formal approval expected at the next regular board meeting.
Why it matters: Starting orders earlier can reduce lead-time risk and help contractors ensure materials are available before summer installation windows; the committee did not take a formal vote and the board’s regular meeting will be asked to ratify the award.
What staff reported: CHA staff said Albirell has worked in the district previously on the high-school renovation and is a large regional electrical contractor, which helped produce the competitive price. "We had 4 electrical contractors submit bids. We are recommending Albirell Electric at a $197,464," one staff member said.
Next step: The committee signaled no objections to moving forward; formal contract award and vote will take place at the next regular board meeting.
Quote: "They just gave us a great price," CHA staff said when describing Albirell’s bid.
