District facilities staff asked the Operations & Finance Committee on Sept. 10 for informal approval to direct CHA to assemble contract documents and advertise a bundled concrete/asphalt package for 2026 work.
Bill said he wanted to move quickly to get bid packages on the street and maximize contractor participation: "What I'm looking for is, is the approval to, to talk to Dewey and say, Let's get... what we're looking at for 2026 projects on paper. I want to get this out to vote as early as possible." He asked staff to prepare documents so the district can be first to market for summer 2026 work.
The proposed 2026 package includes door replacements, parking‑lot sealcoating or resurfacing, sidewalks, retaining walls, and other site repairs. Bill said some items (for example, steps down to the wrestling area and certain sidewalk/tennis‑court work) would be treated as add alternates rather than base bid items so the district can prioritize within available funds.
Finance staff said bond proceeds are largely expended but that reimbursements from completed projects and grant opportunities may offset part of the cost. Committee members asked for a detailed breakout of the $1.265 million line item for athletic‑field work and for worst‑case pricing on optional alternates before a formal vote.
No formal motion or binding vote was recorded in committee; staff will prepare bid documents and return with the requested line‑item breakout and add‑alternate prices for board consideration.
