The board placed a motion to reconsider the Nov. 25, 2025 item on the election of the school treasurer (item 17.01) on the current agenda as item 17.02 to allow public discussion and future board consideration.
Mister Joseph, answering the chair’s question about the business agenda, explained that the treasurer role had been split after the new mayor took office and that Mr. Urbanik will be appointed as city treasurer and, by school code, would serve as the district’s treasurer. "We did do this at during reorg, but at that point Jennifer Gula was the director of finance and the city treasurer in a combined role," Mister Joseph said, adding the mayor separated the roles and the new treasurer will assume the city post and by code serve the district.
Procedure and public access: Director Yord asked whether reopening the earlier item was necessary so the board could discuss it openly. "My understanding ... is that because it was a previous agenda item in order for us to have any discussion about it as a board and to comply with sunshine laws, we have to now motion to reopen it so that we're able to discuss it," Director Yord said. The chair confirmed a motion to reopen is required before substantive discussion can take place in public. Director Silk clarified the purpose: reopening is intended to permit discussion, not necessarily to signal an immediate vote on the underlying 'future ready' plan.
Transparency request: Director Diodati asked that the resolution PDF be attached directly to the agenda so members of the public do not need to search prior minutes. "I would like to see it attached to the agenda for the public to be able to find it fast," Director Diodati said; the chair agreed to make that change.
Next steps: The motion to reconsider (17.02) was placed on the agenda for future consideration; no formal motion, second, or vote on 17.01 took place during the agenda‑review session. Board staff also said they will notify the public in advance if weather forces changes to Monday’s public hearing format.
