Athletics and activities: high participation rates, soccer season shift and field renovations continue on schedule

The athletics update noted high retention from the start of the fall season — "We were able to retain, I'm gonna say, 99.2 percent of our athletes that started the season," the athletics director said — and rising participation in co‑curricular activities including marching band. The Colonial League plans to move middle‑school soccer from spring to fall in coming seasons; the district will work through contract and schedule implications.
Field renovations at the Bulldog complex are advancing: administrators reported concrete pours, fence post installation and pitching‑tunnel work, and said the athletics projects are generally on or ahead of schedule. Officials said the turf was installed in August 2012 and will eventually require replacement as it ages.
Administrators also recapped a first‑responders appreciation night at the stadium that was funded by donations and supported by multiple local agencies; the donated video display and refreshments helped the district honor local police, fire and EMS personnel.
The athletic department will finalize practice and competition schedules for spring sports once construction and facility logistics are complete.
