During the committee portion of the meeting, a facilities committee member summarized a preliminary timeline for Manor Middle School and said the team is coordinating with administration, township officials, engineers and architects before construction can begin. Board members asked whether the projects planned at Eshelman and Leetort would affect classroom sizes; the facilities representative said the committee is looking at options to reduce elementary class sizes and that the middle‑school project will add capacity.
Superintendent remarks included reminders about a board breakfast at Hambright and a January presentation by Raymond James on proposed borrowing to fund upcoming construction work.
In the business portion, the treasurer presented the August balance sheet and noted total assets of $50,161,534.29 and that the district is owed approximately $4,000,000 from the state. The treasurer said the district is “losing $40 a day in interest” because the state has not passed a budget.
The board moved to approve the Sept. 2 voting minutes, to ratify the August bills, and to approve a series of consent‑agenda items (items 2a; 3a–e; 4a–k). Each motion was moved, seconded and approved with nine affirmative votes.
Earlier in the meeting, administrators introduced a second cohort of new teachers to the board; individual new hires briefly described their roles and why they joined Penn Manor.
The board held two citizen‑comment periods (one for action‑agenda items and one general) and had no speakers during either period. The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
