The Oley Valley School District Board of Directors’ committee meeting opened with a recognition for Chris Buckner, named by a board member as the recipient of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association Institute’s 2025 Innovative Teacher Award.
A board member who nominated Buckner described him as the district’s high‑school technology education teacher and said he “helped to build a cohesive technology education department bringing together teachers from traditional math and science backgrounds to capitalize on everyone's strengths in forming seven STEM pathways for graduation.” Buckner accepted the recognition and said, “It makes me super uncomfortable… If it weren't for the people I work with… none of this would have been possible.”
Buckner thanked administrators and the Community Education Foundation and said the district’s collaborative culture made the program possible. The board applauded the recognition; no formal action was required for the award presentation. The committee proceeded to regular business following the recognition.
The district’s meeting materials list the award and the donor/organizer as PSBA Institute; the board said it will continue to highlight staff achievements in future meetings.
