Northern Lehigh pilots Firefly assessment and narrows math-program candidates to Innovamat, iReady and Desmos

A middle-school teacher who led a Firefly pilot said the assessment takes roughly 45 minutes and offers a focused, grade-level breakdown that can guide targeted remediation prior to state assessments.
"It's about 40 questions, so it is not as much of a cumbersome long test, but it does give a lot of valuable data for us," the teacher said, describing the pilot use in the middle school and a small high-school cohort preparing for Keystone Algebra 1.
Curriculum leaders also described a math-program review that began with several vetted candidates and has narrowed to three finalists: Innovamat (an early-elementary, discovery-focused program), iReady (noted for alignment with state standards and built-in professional development), and Desmos/Amplify. Teachers K through Algebra 1 will see vendor presentations on May 28 and provide feedback as part of a multi-step adoption process focused on "building-thinking-classroom" instructional practices.
Administrators said they will gather teacher feedback and return to the board with a recommendation for adoption planning.
