District administration presented a draft 2026–27 school calendar that shifts the first student day to Aug. 24 (two weeks before Labor Day) and ends the last student day June 3. The calendar includes two Act 80 days (Oct. 9 and Nov. 25), seven early dismissals and four designated weather makeup days (two in March and two in April) intended to avoid extended instructional gaps should closures occur.
Presenters said the earlier start responds to calendar geometry in 2027 (late Labor Day and a late Memorial Day) and aligns Penn Manor with neighboring districts to accommodate shared services (CTC and IU). Trustees asked for faculty input and noted the district would present the calendar for placement on the Feb. 17 voting agenda; the clerk recorded 9 affirmative votes to place the calendar on that agenda.
Administration noted kindergarten registration for 2026–27 opened Feb. 1 and that more than 100 registrations were already in process.
The board will consider final approval at its next voting meeting.
