Dave Young took over the meeting after the board approved nominations and voice votes during the Montoursville Area School District organizational session.
The board opened nominations for a temporary president and, after a nomination for Dave Young and a second, approved the nomination. Young then called for nominations for board president; Todd Badger was nominated and seconded and the nominations were closed and carried by voice vote.
The board approved a slate of committee assignments. Policy committee members were named as Tina McCoy and Todd Badger; the IU representative will be Mrs. Meyer; LCPC representation was assigned to Mr. Eisenhower and Mr. Gardner; Memorial Gardens to Mr. Hausnick; budget committee to Mrs. Meyer and Mr. Hausnick; Montoursville Foundation liaison to Mr. Young; Building and Grounds to Mr. Albert; extracurricular oversight to Mr. Badger and Mr. Hausnick; and a new wellness committee was assigned to Mrs. McCoy. A motion to approve the committee assignments passed on a voice vote.
Board members also designated the Williamsport Sun-Gazette as the district’s newspaper of general circulation for legal notices and advertisements; the motion carried. The board adopted its regular-meeting schedule — the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., with adjustments for July (third week), August (third week) and December (first week) — and set work sessions for the fourth Tuesday, with exceptions for specified months. Meetings were set to be held at Montoursville Area High School in the conference room.
Other routine organizational business included noting the current treasurer’s term runs through June 30, 2025, so no election was required, and adjourning the organizational portion of the meeting to begin the regular session.
The board handled these items by motions that were seconded and carried by voice votes; specific roll-call tallies were not recorded in the transcript.
