Walker Subaru donates $5,000 and expands internship program at Millersburg

At the start of the meeting, Doug Jones of Walker Subaru in Harrisburg described a partnership with the district that has placed two Millersburg students (a sophomore and a junior) in paid internships in the dealership’s service department, where they work two days a week under master-certified technicians. Jones presented a $5,000 donation to the district and described the relationship as an ongoing commitment to support fundraising, career connections and student mentorship.
"We put them with two of our master certified technicians, and they mentor them... They are awesome," Jones said, and added the donation is intended to help the district’s events and fundraising efforts. District representatives thanked Walker Subaru and planned to arrange a photo with board members.
District staff said the internship program grew from outreach by district personnel and that the dealership intends this to be an ongoing partnership beyond the single check presented at the meeting.
