The Mount Union Area School District solicitor, Mr. Knapp, told the board an executive session prior to the meeting reviewed documentation and the format used for the superintendent’s evaluation previously reported to the public in June.
“We had an executive session with myself and the board before the meeting this evening to discuss the issue of the superintendent's evaluation,” Mr. Knapp said, adding that he raised concerns about the format and documentation used in the June report. He said Dr. Smith, her counsel and Mrs. Macquarie will meet with him to review the complete documentation and that, after that review, the evaluation results, goals and related information will be posted on the district website.
Mr. Knapp emphasized the board’s attention to due process and legal compliance, saying the board and staff are taking time to ensure the evaluation and supporting documents are complete and consistent with the school code and with the superintendent’s rights under due‑process procedures. He thanked the public for patience while the review proceeds.
The solicitor’s remarks followed the meeting chair’s announcement that the board had held an executive session prior to the public meeting; the board did not take a public vote on the evaluation at this session.
