District reports Title I allocation of about $291,000; federal Titles 2 and 4 temporarily paused

At the July 15 meeting, the Montoursville Area School Board heard its annual federal programs report. Mister Farrar said the district passed federal monitoring for the third consecutive year and summarized how federal funds are used in the district, with Title I funding focused on reading and math interventions.
"Our Title I allocation is around 291,000," Farrar said, clarifying "thousand." He described Title I’s typical uses—additional certified reading teachers and trained paraprofessionals at elementary schools—and said the district measures student growth at the beginning and end of each year.
Business manager Miss Smith told the board that Titles 2 and 4 make up about $71,000 of the district budget and said those funds are currently on hold at the federal level despite having been appropriated. She urged board members and the public to contact federal and state representatives to request release of funds and to advocate for a state budget, noting uncertainty complicates local planning.
The board acknowledged the report; no action was required beyond the annual update and continued monitoring of staffing and program use.
